Emergency Volunteer Registry Launches May 7th, 2012!

Thanks to a partnership between Northumberland County and Northumberland United Way, the Emergency Volunteer Registry (EVR) is now ready to accept volunteers. As Lynda Kay, CEO, Northumberland United Way, explains, "The Emergency Volunteer Registry began in Peterborough as a partnership between the County and City of Peterborough and United Way of Peterborough. After their devastating flood, it was determined that a centralized place to access volunteers was critical to the success of coping during the crisis. Thus the EVR was born.”
The EVR database is compiled of names of volunteers, along with the skills they would like to offer in assisting personnel during a disaster/pandemic. "By drawing upon volunteers and their particular skillsets, we will be able to meet the requirements needed to assist emergency personnel,” stated Ms Kay.
